Home-cooked Food Market

HCIN 620: Information and Interaction Design / Spring 2023

Making Pasta

Inexpensive Homemade Food Readily Available for RIT Students

Milestone 1: Project Focus

Problem:  Due to convenience, Rochester Institute of Technology students often purchase meals from on-campus dining locations. However, we discovered that on-campus dining halls only offer a limited variety of food. As a result, students may become tired of the food offerings and choose to order food delivery from restaurants within the surrounding Rochester area, which is not ideal for long-term considerations since ordering food delivery is relatively expensive.

Stakeholders:

RIT students who want more meal selections at an affordable price.

Approach: We will conduct a contextual inquiry on the potential users first. After that, we will write down all the affinity notes and categorize them. Then, some personas will be made based on the categorized notes prior to the building of the low-fidelity prototypes. Some potential users will join in this phase and test it, so we can get some feedback and make iterations on the product before we design high-fidelity prototypes.

Milestone 2: Contextual Inquiry

We conducted a contextual inquiry of 5 participants: 5 individual interviews. 3 participants were familiar with the process of buying homemade food and 2 participants were not familiar with the process. The process started with a general overview of the project and a discussion about why we were conducting a contextual Inquiry. We then scheduled interviews with the participants where we observed them. View the full contextual inquiry process

Milestone 3: Personas

The personas are based on the data we collected during the contextual inquiry and are a representation of the participant's goals, needs and pain points.
